Temporary Works Coordinator
Brownlee Cale are recruiting for a Temporary Works Coordinator to join a principal contractor delivering a highways project.
What will I be doing?
With the support of our Lead TWC you will undertake the following:
- Ensure the delivery teams are provided with safe, workable temporary works in a timely manner to suit the programme via in-house design or supplier / subcontract design checks.
- Ensure process for temporary works management is applied fully and efficiently.
- Manage the technical assurance (TA) of all temporary works design as part of the process. (including checks on supply chain proposals)
- Manage the budget associated with designing and checking of all temporary works.
- Back-up the project’s temporary works files on file management system.
- Advise the construction team where temporary works designs may be required. Ensure that TW designs are suitably categorised with respect to the appropriate risk class.
- Ensure the that upcoming temporary works are identified on the TW register and ensure the construction team produce design briefs that are both complete and accurate.
- Be a key part of the planning / programming meetings with the construction team to ensure all temporary works are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Liaise with permanent works designer to resolve issues regarding construction sequence and buildability as necessary.
- Carry out frequent site visits, performing inspections of erected / installed temporary works prior to first loading, periodic inspections and wherever site conditions change.
- Ensure relevant / appropriate permits are issued when required and that they contain suitable risk control measures.
- Hold weekly temporary works coordination meetings to promote communication between Temporary Works Supervisors and ensure temporary work activities are captured in the programme.
- Ensure compliance with current CDM regulations, temporary works best practice and all applicable technical standards.
- Drive innovation in temporary works, including investigation, evaluation and integration of best practice
About You:
- Design management and site inspection experience (essential)
- Chartered or Incorporated Membership of the ICE or working towards it (or other recognised professional body) (preferred)
- Have practical knowledge, understanding and application of civil engineering construction methods
- Experience / knowledge of temporary works management (essential)
- CSCS card (essential)
- CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Course (essential)
- Completed SMSTS (essential)
- CITB Appointed Person for lifting (preferred)
- Thorough understanding and application of the CDM Regulations (essential)
- Civil or Structural Engineering Qualification, Diploma, NVQ Level 4 or higher (essential)
